FAQ

HOW CAN I BOOK?

You can fill in the contact details here to book your place, a £50 deposit is required upon booking and the full amount to be paid 30 days before the retreat starts on July 21st 2020. Alternatively, email us at relax@theskateretreat.com and we can work out a payment plan to suit you.

WHERE IS IT BASED? HOW DO I GET THERE?

The retreat is set in the quiet valley of Hope, nestled in the heart of the Peak District, Derbyshire in the northern Midlands of the UK.
Within easy reach are many unspoilt villages as well as the towns of Castleton, Eyam, Edale and Hathersage, and the famed viewpoint of Mam Tor is within hiking distance.

By car it is just 30 miles from Sheffield and around 40 miles drive from Manchester. The closest railway station is Hope, which has good lines from Sheffield and Manchester, and is just 3 hours from St Pancras International, London.

Train station transfers are included, airport transfers are available for a small fee – get in touch and we will sort you out!

I’LL BE DRIVING, IS THERE PARKING?

Please note that this is a true rural location. The route to the retreat is unlit, slightly uphill and uneven. Due to the limited access route up a rural track, the access is not suitable for any vehicle larger than a 15-seater minibus. There is parking for up to 8 cars near to the house!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT DO I GET?

The price of this retreat is £420, though you can save £50 if you book an Early Grab ticket by April 1st 2020. The price of an Early Grab tickets is £370.

Your costs include a 3 night stay at a beautiful farmhouse, 3 healthy and delicious meals per day, travel to some amazing skateparks throughout the week, skate coaching, creative workshops, yoga mornings and night hikes! Plus an eco-friendly / sustainable toiletries bag, new shoes and a skateboard!

DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?

Yes! We know it can be hard to juggle the cost of a holiday so we are pleased to offer a few different payment plans to help spread the cost, however it suits you. Contact us at relax@theskateretreat.com and we’ll arrange something to suit you.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

We recommend bringing along your skateboard and any pads or helmet if you need them. Swimwear and towel for the pool, and a camera! You’ll need lots of energy and a huge appetite, and maybe some sun lotion if we are lucky. Comfy walking shoes are a must, we will be providing skate shoes but we recommend bringing your own pair just in case the new ones need some wearing in! You will also need warm, wet AND cold weather clothing, valid ID (just in case).

We’ll provide bedding for the duration of your stay, however you could bring an extra blanket to make yourself feel at home. You’ll receive a little eco-friendly goody bag upon arrival, so no need to bring along any plastic toiletry bottles!

CAN MY FRIENDS AND I STAY IN THE SAME ROOM?

Of course! We do not allocate beds until you get here so sharing with your friends is not a problem. We have two dormitory style rooms at our disposal, so you will be able to bunk with your bestie!

IS THERE PHONE SIGNAL + WIFI?

As we are in the countryside, phone signal maybe a little hit and miss in some areas of the house and grounds, though we do have a payphone available in the house. There is no WiFi, but it’s nice to get away for a bit, right?

DO YOU CATER FOR VEGANS AND GLUTEN FREE?

Absolutely! All of our breakfasts, lunches and dinners are 100% vegan anyway, and we will cater to any other dietary requirements you may have, no drama. Just let us know your needs in advance!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

It’s England, so it’s possible that it may rain at some point during our stay. We’ll keep an eye on the weather throughout the week and rejig any plans we may have if needs be. We have a couple of indoor workshops lined up anyway, we are pretty flexible and like to go with the flow of things, so we’ll see how you’re feeling on the day and go from there 🙂

I’VE NEVER SKATED BEFORE, IS THAT OK?

We recommend that you get some practice before coming along to this retreat, but so long as you have balance on your board, can push along and do some basic kickturns then you’re sure to get as much out of it as anybody else! We have qualified coaches on board to give you a hand, and we guarantee you will go away with at least one new learn!

THE RETREAT IS FULL, IS THERE A WAITING LIST?

Yup! Just click here and enter your deets and we’ll let you know if a space opens up!

I NEED TO CANCEL, WILL I LOSE MY MONEY?

All cancellations made within 14 days of booking have a cooling off period and so are fully refundable, including your £50 deposit. Cancellations made 90 days before the retreat commences will receive a full refund, less your £50 deposit. Cancellations made after this time are subject to our terms and conditions, and in some cases, will not be liable for a refund. Please see full terms and conditions here.
