General Questions
Where is the retreat based?
Our forest getaway is set amongst beautiful, expansive and private woodlands in Norfolk, UK. Exact location details will be sent in a welcome email upon complete payment.
Am I too young, or maybe too old?
Whilst you do need to be over the age of 18 to join this forest retreat, there is no upper age limit – we have had guests up to 63 years old join us for skate retreats!
Our community is full of passionate, enthusiastic, friendly and supportive skaters of all ages. As a rough guide, most of our guests are beginner to intermediate skaters of 21 – 45 years old.
Can I come alone?
YES! In fact, a majority of guests come solo to our workshops, lessons and retreats – they’re the best way to meet likeminded people, we can be sure you’ll leave with loads of new friends. We can’t wait to meet you!
Will you cater for my dietary requirements?
Absolutely! We ask that you let us know, in writing, at least 30 days before the event. We have an open kitchen where nuts, seeds and other allergens are present, and as such are unable to cater for severe allergies. Just let us know your needs at the time of booking and we will try out best to help!
I’ve never skated before, can I still come along?
Yes of course! We wholeheartedly welcome beginners, absolutely no prior skate experience is needed to join us – however – if you are a total beginner, you will need to book on to some coaching in order to use the ramps. We have amazing instructors to teach you the basic foundational skills you’ll need to get rolling, and we’ll work on building your confidence over the sessions so that you can make the most out of your time here.
What do I need to bring?
First things first! Bring along your skateboard, skates, skate shoes, and any pads, helmet, or skaters equipment you may need.
You will need wet AND cold weather clothing, and waterproof shoes are a must. Bring some comfy walking shoes that you don’t mind getting mucky – remember, we are in the heart of the forest!
Feel free to bring your bicycle to explore the surrounding woodlands, if you have a hammock or board games and space in the car – feel free to bring those with you!
We’ll provide bedding for the duration of your stay, however you could bring an extra blanket or pillow to make yourself feel more at home. Please remember to bring a towel with you as these won’t be provided. There are no plug sockets so leave any electricals at home. However it may be a good idea to bring along your fully charged portable chargers if you want to be sure to keep your phone in juice for photos… or just bring a camera!
Lastly, bring along some sun lotion – just in case – and for some good luck! ).
I can already skate! Would this be suitable for me?
Absolutely! This retreat is perfect if you’ve skated before or have been skating for a while. There I will be plenty to do aside from skating too, and it is a great way to make new friends or spend some much needed skate time together with old ones.
How can I book?
Firstly, you’ll need to decide on your accommodation choice! Glamping or Camping? Check out our options here.
Can I stay with my partner or bessie?
Of course! We have named all of the structures to make it easier for you to book with friends if you wish, just make sure you both book the same one as this may not be able to be rectified if the spaces get filled.
Will you provide equipment for the skate coaching?
We will have a limited number of skateboards for you to borrow during any skate coaching booked with us. You will need to bring along your own helmets and pads. Please be sure to let us know if you need to hire a skateboard upon booking.
What happens if it rains?
This is jolly old Blighty, so it is likely that we may see some rain at some point during our stay. We always keep an eye on the weather throughout the week to rejig about schedule if needs be. We have some wet weather workshops lined up if it is a washout, but fingers crossed for good weather! We will have coverings for our ramp to keep them dry during any showery spells so we are able to skate once the rain stops. Do be sure to bring a raincoat, waterproof shoes just in case.
And don’t forget… we are in the middle of an area of natural beauty, famous for its beautiful walks and scenery… the skatings just a bonus! 😉
